Nexans will design and produce a medium voltage high temperature superconducting (HTS) cable for American Superconductor (AMSC), as part of its resilient electric grid project in Chicago. The project, part of the US Department of Homeland Security’s resilient electric grid program, will use HTS cables to connect substations in downtown Chicago and so improve the resiliency of the electrical grid against extreme weather or catastrophic events.
