Habitat Partners with Floyd Initiative for Safe Housing Habitat for Humanity has partnered with the Floyd Initiative for Safe Housing (FISH), a group of Floyd volunteers that include

citizens, elected officials and municipal staff. This group came together to improve the stock of existing and availability of new affordable housing in Floyd County. Since 2017, with the guidance of HFHNRV, FISH has assisted dozens of families with home repairs. The criteria for the work focuses on making the home safer, warmer and dryer. FISH has raised funds for the material themselves from concerned citizens, performed the work with all volunteer teams

advanced framing techniques. This will save money and the planet as less material is destined for a landfill. Dan was born in Blacksburg and raised in Christiansburg. He is also a volunteer with the Blacksburg rescue squad, specializing in cave rescue. He was recently featured on national news after being a part of the Cyclops K rescue team that pulled five people out of a cave in Russell County, Virginia. Dan is also instrumental in the development and management of the Repair Café and Tool Lending Library. Just two innovative ways we help the community connect and grow.
