Brakes for Life on show at NAMPO 2018

Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC) will show farmers the renowned Doosan ‘brakes for life’ system at Nampo 2018. On show will be two Doosan forklifts, the D35C-5 forklift and a refurbished Doosan D25S-5. The ‘brakes for life’ system, which made world headlines when it was introduced some years ago – and still one of the most important selling features on Doosan forklifts – is an oil- cooled disc brake system (OCB), which, being totally enclosed, eliminates all outside contamination by any abrasive or corrosive dust particles. The system significantly reduces operating costs and GLTC offers on it a 60-month, unlimited hours guarantee. Goscor’s MD Darryl Shafto says that Doosan has always been a leader in terms of innovative forklift technology and the ‘brakes for life’ system is an excellent example of this. The Doosan D35C-5 is part of the state-of-the-art and redesigned Doosan Pro-5 series which has given the brand its global reputation for durable, dependable and operator-friendly forklifts. “The machine provides a well- balanced mix of technology, operator comfort refinements, performance efficiencies and advances in serviceability that help farmers increase their productivity while at the same time lowering their operating costs,” says Shafto. A range of SANY compact equipment ideal for a range of agricultural applications will be showcased by Goscor Earth Moving (GEM) at Grain SA’s NAMPO Harvest Day from 15 to 18 May 2018 at Bothaville in the Free State. Part of the Goscor Group, GEM will highlight, for example, the 14 t SY140, a versatile excavator ideal for any farmer. It is fitted with reliable and inexpensive Isuzu motors for rugged dependability, Andre Steenkamp, GM of the SANY range under GEM, points out. The lightweight excavator can be transported easily around a farm for maximum productivity. In addition, the SYL 956H1 front end loader will be on display. The machine is built tough, with a bucket capacity from 2,7 to 4,5 m³ to ensure it is well-

completely refurbished by GRC. “Our refurbishment division, now under the experienced and expert management of Shaun Morton, has proven its ability to make previously used machines as good as new,” says Shafto. “In these challenging economic times it is sometimes difficult for farmers to buy new and we have therefore made the refurbishment route a viable alter- native. We invite all farmers to take advantage of this offering and see for themselves at NAMPO the amazing value refurbished forklifts represent,” says Morton. b

He adds that GLTC and Doosan are focused on lowering the lifetime own- ership costs of Doosan machines, which is helped by the unique features of the Pro-5 Series forklifts which include opti- mised operator comfort; high-powered, fuel efficient, EPA compliant diesel, LPG and gasoline engines; virtually maintenance free, oil-cooled disc brakes (Brakes for Life); power reversal trans- mission; lift and tilt locking hydraulic control valve; and Operator Sense and System (OSS). The other Doosan on show will be the D25S-5, another Doosan Pro-5 series forklift, which has been suited for the agricultural sector. The drive system features a rotary automatic gearbox that boosts travel speed by 10%, and increases towing force by over 6%. The rated load is 5 000 kg, rated power is 162 kW, and the maximum lifting force is 172 kN. SANY is a Chinese manufacturer of plant and mining equipment, from excavators to graders, rigid dump trucks, front-end loaders, rollers, pavers, cranes, port machinery, pile driving, and concrete pumps. The advantage for customers in dealing with GEM is that it has a large footprint in South Africa, and therefore is able to support customers through its countrywide network. While GEM is a fairly new addition to Goscor, the group

has been in the compact-equipment segment for a number of years. “Therefore the SANY range can piggyback easily on the network that has already been established. Goscor has invested significantly in this leading brand from China, which means our parts and general back-up are on par with any of the larger OEMs,” says Steenkamp. b
