Provide Advanced First Aid * IMPORTANT NOTE * If you have not previously completed the three prerequisite units of competency HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support (BLS) and HLTAID003 Provide first aid (FA), you first need to review the Knowledge Development portions of those programs and complete the related Knowledge Review questions. You find the information in the previous sections of this manual. Only then should you start studying this section. Introduction Welcome to your training program HLTAID006 Provide advanced first aid (AFA). Progressing on from the three prerequisite units of competency (CPR, BLS, FA), this program will further introduce you to: • State/Territory regulations, first aid codes of practice and workplace procedures • Legal, workplace and community considerations • Considerations when providing first aid • Principles and procedures for first aid management State/Territory regulati ns, first aid co es of prac ce and workplace procedures. This section expands your basic knowledge on State/Territory regulations, first aid codes of practice and workplace procedures. Guidelines from Australian national peak clinical bodies What information do Australian national peak clinic bodies provide? National peak clinical bodies provide information supporting health and medical research along with developing health advice for the Australian community, health professionals and governments. They also provide advice on ethical behaviour in health care and on the conduct of health and medical research. Examples of Australian national peak clinical bodies that may be relevant to a student’s workplace may include: Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), Australian Medical Association (AMA), Australian Medicare Local Alliance (AMLA), Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA), Improvement Foundation Australia (IF), National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) - represented by Australian Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT), Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and Rural Doctor’s Association Australia (RDAA).
