5. Anytime that a convicted child sex offender is present on school property for any reason – including the three reasons above – he/she is responsible for notifying the principal's office upon arrival on school property and upon departure from school property. It is the responsibility of the convicted child sex offender to remain under the direct supervision of a school official at all times he/she is in the presence or vicinity of children. 6. A violation of this law is a Class 4 felony. VIOLENT OFFENDER COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION State law requires that all school districts provide parents/guardians with information about sex offenders and violent offenders against youth. You may find the Illinois Statewide Child Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry on the Illinois State Police’s website at: http://www.isp.state.il.us/cmvo/ . SCHOOL VISITATION RIGHTS The School Visitation Rights Act permits employed parents/guardians, who are unable to meet with educators because of a work conflict, the right to time off from work under certain conditions to attend necessary school functions such as parent-teacher conferences. Letters verifying participation in this program are available from the school office upon request. VISITOR’S PERMITS Pontiac Township High School cordially invites the parents of students to visit the school any time. Conferences with staff members may be arranged by telephone ahead of the visit. If a student brings a visitor from another school (high school age), he/she must obtain a visitors permit. All visitors are to report to the main office.

Steps to Obtain a Visitor’s Permit 1.

Approval granted by administrator. Request made 48 hours in advance.

3. Permission signed by all teachers in advance. 4. Any classroom teacher who states NO will have no visitor. 5. Administration reserves the right to refuse visitors. 6. All guests must register in the office upon arrival at school.
