Standards for assessment

• T staging – based on clinical assessment of maximum tumour length • N staging – extrapolated from experience in rectal cancer • M staging – requires CT TAP • ERUS – not indicated • PET-CT – changes stage in 30% - uncertain whether this improves outcomes.
