Individualization and the inverted classroom Schloss Neubeuern has long been an active proponent of individualized learning. In an inversion of traditional methods, pupils in years 9 and 10 in particular are given responsibility for acquiring new knowledge outside of conventional lesson time. The requisite “learning blocks” are made available on a web-based learning platform that can be accessed anywhere, anytime. The blocks feature educational videos as their central compo- nent, and allow pupils to work through the key content of the respective school year at their own speed and in whatever order they choose. They are naturally accompanied on their learning journey by their teachers, mentors and parents, who can access the learning platform in order to gain a detailed insight into the progress being made by their protégés.
