Deanna Bretz enters her first season as a student assistant coach with the University of San Diego. A three-year standout with the Toreros, Bretz suffered career ending shoulder surgery last summer. Whi le at USO, Bretz compiled 65 1 kills and 543 digs and was named the 1995 West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year. Bretz also was named to the USO All-Academic Team following the 1998 campaign. Last season, Bretz posted four double-doubles and ranked fourth on the Toreros in kills per game and ranks in the USO career top-ten li st in total blocks, block assists, service aces, assists and total attack attempts. In additi on to her coach ing duties with Torero Vo ll eyball, Bretz will be pursuing her Master's Degree in Leadership.
