The links were in perfect order, and it was anticipated that some at least of the scores returned would have been much lower. Doubtless the reason why some of the com petitors did not do better was that they were over eager to win the President's Cup. One competitor in particular, although he finished with a net score of 87, took no less than 11 strokes for the first hole. On the day of the competition this hole was by no means a difficult 4. In the afternoon there was a Foursome Competition. The prizes for this competition were also presented by the President. These foursomes were (on handicap) against bogey, the partners being drawn for by the Committee. The winning pair were Mr. Frank Fottrell and Mr. R. G. Warren. The former being a scratch golfer, and the latter one of the finest half-backs that Ireland ever produced, and who more than once captained the Irish International Rugby Football Team. The success of the meeting was largely due to the assistance and untiring energy of Mr. Godfrey Power, Secretary of the Port- marnock Golf Club, wh:> worked indefatigably from 9 o'clock in the morning until the last competitor had holed out his final putt on the last green.
