TWO CUT TEST METHOD: * Coup Test - The circular blade moves back and forth across a material sample under a fixed load of 500 grams (5N), while rotating in the opposite direction of the linear motion of the mounting device. Results of this test are calculated by recording the number of blade revolutions needed to cut through the material, which is then compared to a Cut Index.

* TDM-100 Test - The straight blade cut test uses a straight blade drawn across a specimen until cut-through takes place and measures the contact load applied to the blade in order to make a cut-through over a 20mm stroke length. Force and cut-through length are plotted on a scatter graph and a trend line is generated.

ANSI / ISEA 105-2016 Cut - ASTM F2992-15 (TDM)

The new ANSI/ISEA 105-2016 includes new classification levels, which includes a new scale to determine cut score (commonly referred to as the ANSI cut score), and a revised method for testing gloves to the standard. It uses a Tomodynamometer Machine (TDM-100) and the test is based on the ASTM F2992-15 standard. The goal of this test is to measure how much force is needed to cut through a fabric. Note: In order to differentiate the levels in the new standards from the old ones and limit confusion during testing, the new cut levels will have an “A” listed in front of them.
