WORKSHOP PARIS, FRANCE

“Bohemian luxury” is the term that comes to mind at this beautifully converted Parisian loft. At one time a woodworker’s atelier, this three-bedroom abode is the kind of place that feeds your aspirations of dropping it all and moving to Paris to become an artist. Updated with the utmost respect to the original period details, dramatic flair comes in the form of exposed wood beam ceilings and vast skylights that flood the home with natural light. An added bonus is the spacious terrace where you can unwind and take in the City of Light in the heart of the 18th Arrondissement.

LOOKOUT TOWER DALKEY, IRELAND

Bartra Tower was originally built as a lookout in 1804 during the threat of a Napoleonic invasion in Dalkey, Ireland (near Dublin). Today, you still have a prime vantage point to watch the ships roll in off the Irish Sea, but it’s a bit more relaxing now that the barbeque has replaced the “shot furnace” (used for firing cannons) on the timber-decked roof garden. From atop there are stunning 360-degree views over Dublin Bay, Dublin city and the Dublin Mountains, while the first floor Garrison Room – previously the sleeping quarters of the 12 soldiers stationed here – has been transformed into a state-of-the-art suspended kitchen with granite walls and vaulted ceilings. The sumptuous master suite includes a study, dressing area and en suite bathroom with white Carrera marble, freestanding bathtub and heated floors.
