ANNUAL REPORT Parks & Recreation Department Growth is the word to best describe the year for New Gloucester’s Department of Parks and Recreation. The Department continues with its collaboration with the Town of Gray. Both towns value meeting the recreational needs of residents of Gray and New Gloucester collectively. The feedback from the partnership thus far has been overwhelmingly positive. New monthly adult programs are going strong and the sense of community has never been stronger. Casino to You! by local resident Brett Sawyer, The NG Sky Streakers performing a show for us, partnering with Lewiston to go on the Songo Queen, Chipman Farms donating pumpkins w/ a specially carved pumpkin donated by local resident, Dan Ellison are some of the activities we had. The Community Café welcomes about (45) people each month with new faces coming all the time. We offer the Community Café on the second Wednesday of each month. The lunch offering is a partnership with the Southern Maine Agency on Aging that helps departments like ours make meals like this possible for only a small donation from those who join us. In January of this year, we launched the Breakfast Club. We’ve been gathering on the 4 th Wednesday of each month to share breakfast with friends at the Congregational Church in Gray. We meet new people each month and hope you join us! The Parks and Recreation Department continued with annual program offerings. We couldn’t offer this programming to the community without the support of our wonderful staff and volunteers: • Kids Club Before and After School Program – 30 Children • Summer Camp Program – 55 Children per week for 9 weeks • Gymnastics/Cheer Tumbling – 312 6 week registrations • Fall Soccer- 217 Participants • Jr. Basketball-84 Participants • GNG Diamonds Cheering – 74 participants • Jr Track and Field – 74 participants • Community Café – Served over 540 meals to the community
