ANNUAL REPORT Planning Department
The Planning Department is responsible for assisting Planning Board applicants through the Planning Board review process. The department provides support to the Planning Board, Land Management Planning Committee (LMPC), and Economic and Community Development Committee (ECDC) and is responsible for helping the community realize long-term goals associated with growth, land management, and economic development. The Town did not have a full-time Planner on staff from September 2024 through June 2025. During this time, the Town retained part-time consulting services from GPCOG for assistance with Planning Board needs. A new full-time Planner joined the Town starting in June 2025. Planning Board The Planning Board reviewed and approved six Site Plan applications. Site Plan Reviews: • Norumbega Cidery: Additional uses (Farm & Forest, Limited Residential Shoreland, and Resource Protection districts) • 81 Sabbathday Road: single-family dwelling (Residential C and Groundwater Protection Overlay districts) • Violet Hill Farm Wedding Venue (Rural Residential zoning district) • New Gloucester Fairgrounds Amendment: addition of restroom and storage facility (Farm & Forest, Resource Protection, and Groundwater Protection Overlay districts) • 300 Intervale: single-family dwelling (Village and Historic Resource Overlay Districts) • New Gloucester Self-Storage Additions (Residential C District)
There was one approved subdivision
Subdivisions: • Oz Drive Subdivision: amendment to a previously approved subdivision, subdividing two existing parcels into 6 lots for commercial use (Residential Commercial Zone)
The Planning Board met ten times during this period.
