ANNUAL REPORT Cable Television Committee
The Committee continued its basic mission to record, stream and broadcast public Meeting House meetings, making such recordings available as video-on-demand on the Internet at https://cloud.castus.tv/vod/ngtv in addition to “cablecasting” on channels 3 and 1302 – until mid-year when those responsibilities were transferred to the new Station Manager, Chris Daggett. Committee members, as individuals, recorded and edited public access programming; primarily 2024 Semiquincentennial events. Committee members and the station manager verified that NGTV equipment and processes to support hybrid meetings are usable as intended. Staffing of video operators for Meeting House meeting coverage continued to be provided by a part-time employee with hours based on need, supported by a volunteer and then the station manager to maintain the video server recording and playback. Due to a number of factors, including the diminishing number of Cable TV Committee members to only two, a request was made by the vice-chair to the New Gloucester Select Board at their Nov. 17, 2025 meeting to dissolve the committee. Their vote was unanimous to do so, with regret. The station manager and part-time employee will continue their roles by providing coverage of Town board and committee meetings. Volunteer videographers may be recruited to assist with station operations and produce public access programming under the auspices of the station manager. Respectfully submitted, Patti Mikkelsen, Former Vice-Chair of the now defunct Cable TV Committee
