TMK, a manufacturer of pipe for the oil and gas industry, has signed an R&D cooperation programme for 2014-2016 with Lukoil, providing for the launch of import-substituting and new types of high-performance tubular products to meet the needs of the oil and gas sector. The programme maps out three key areas for TMK-Lukoil cooperation: casing, tubing and line pipe production. It also offers an action plan including testing, research, presentations, workshops and technical support. “Lukoil has always been one of TMK’s most valued partners,” said TMK CEO Alexander Shiryaev. “Not only do we supply our pipe to this oil and gas major, but we have also accumulated extensive experience in joint launching Managing director Paul Massey explained, “The strip and alloys business, which is part of Barrett Energy Products Division, offers offshore pipeline protection, supplying metallic sheets and winding wire materials to the gasket manufacturing industry on a global basis. “The company also acts as a specialist supplier to other nickel alloy stockists. R&D cooperation programme for high-performance tubular products

In a separate development, TMK Gulf International Pipe Industry (TMK GIPI) LLC, TMK’s plant in Oman, has been awarded an order for 18,400 tonnes of OCTG threaded and coupled casing pipes by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). The high-strength casing pipes are used by PDO in well operations for oil development and drilling projects. PDO accounts for more than 70 per cent of Oman’s crude oil production and nearly all of its natural gas supply. TMK operates 28 production sites in the USA, Russia, Canada, Romania, Oman, UAE and Kazakhstan, and R&D centres in Russia and the USA. In 2013, TMK’s pipe shipments totalled 4.3mn tons.
