agency. With budget cuts, we must examine what and how we purchase to save financial resources for use other than food. I know this is a change from previous years, but I feel it is necessary. I know we like to provide food in appreciation of their time, and I am supportive in doing this provided it is absolutely necessary and the meeting timeframe meets MCCB policy. This policy is under revision to provide clarity and guidance.

Example- The agency will fund lunch when the event begins by 10:00 am and goes beyond 2:00 pm.

What we do not want to see are meetings that end and then people are fed and then depart for home. If this is happening, we need to make a change to simply adjourn the meeting with subsequent departure. Within the MCCB and the community colleges, there no expectation for the agency/college to feed the employee while carrying out their duties as part of the workday . These duties include attending same day meetings etc.

When college employees travel, spend the night somewhere and attend meetings, the colleges reimburse the employee for travel costs to include food allowances.

To show appreciation for participation, to provide a quality experience, while also exercising good judgement in spending, MCCB will provide snacks and drinks. MCCB will provide lunch as appropriate based on policy related expectations. Please look at each situation carefully, utilize technology for meetings where appropriate, and adhere to policy guidelines.
