of exploring the objects, uncovering what is hidden or your associations, reminiscences, dreams and day-dreams? There are a lot of people who don’t know the story behind Cinderella, there are carpenters who looked at it and were really amazed by it. And to us it’s not important That’s the main thing that we love it that somebody even does not know the story or the plot behind loved it in their way. Yeah, it’s fine with us. The thing is that we started it with a kind of dream or story or fairy-tale whatever concept. What is the defining meaning in you creative work: the form or the content of the object? The content. And beauty on itself is really empty. Eventually the beautiful product is the goal but it’s really nothing if it’s.. It’s like snack-food If it doesn’t have a background or webs it’s really empty. Is the functional side of the projects, their usefulness and ability to fit in everyday life important to you? Yes, I guess Yes. If you also count art people, art public, and everyday life I think when you get response it’s a way of saying, people are saying «we get what you are doing». Yeah, it’s important. Which design themes are you interested in and which projects you would never take up? I think we almost pick up everything. I mean we also like to work in high-tech projects Right now we are also for example designing speak- ers and we love fashion coz we love work with fabrics, and I think there’s hardly anything that we would not touch. What is the share of handmade, things of hand labor in your work? Is it hard to align the craft, which fills things with warmth of human hands and valuable content, with industrial production? How do you combine that? I think the share of Industrial production in con-

trast to hand labour is equal. We also find a real beauty in industrial produced products and also even the way they are produced. Yes Sometimes I just have something. The only bad thing about it is that show production is that it makes really beautiful old crafts which disappeared. They are sometimes so beautiful and I sometimes a kind of ashamed of it. But the value in craft is really

amazing. If you see the way the things were produced it’s a lot of extension of our work too and inmost crafts you find that back because for example The Lace Fence we could try and let it be produced by machine but it wouldn’t be the same because if you look at artificial lace made by a machine it still looks totally different than our hand made lace. The little mistakes and the
