Kearney Public Library Now Offers Tumble Book Library™ for Kids Kearney Public Library now subscribes to the online collection of TumbleBooks offered by TumbleBookLibrary. TumbleBooks, are animated, talking picture books that teach kids the joy of reading in a format they’ll love. They are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read or have read to you. The TumbleBookLibrary is a collection of licensed titles from children’s book publishers such as Simon & Schuster, Chronicle Books, Candlewick Press, Charlesbridge Press, Harcourt, Little Brown, Walker & Company, Lerner Books, and HarperCollins Publishers, among others. Some of the many TumbleBook features are Language Learning, Read-Along and Non Fiction Books. FAMILY FLICKS: All Ages. - Watch movies on the big screen and enjoy a small snack. Youth ages 7 and under need to be accompanied by an adult. Movie titles will be announced in the monthly Library Newsletter. Program held in upstairs meeting room.

FAMILY STORYTIME: All Ages with Adult. - Children of all ages may attend this storytime with a favorite adult! Program held in youth program room.

STUFFED ANIMAL SLEEPOVER: All Ages (recommended for preschool/early elementary). Have you ever wondered what happens in the library when it is closed? At this program you will create a name tag for your second favorite stuffed friend, listen to a story with your friend and then tuck it in for the night. Pick up your friend the next day to see what adventures it had at the library! Please register in library at least 3 days in advance.

PAWS TO READ: All Ages. Dogs aren’t only man’s best friend, they are amazing listeners! Come to the library and read to a dog or cat. Read ten books or chapters and earn a free book! Registered Therapy Animals will be listening to youth read. Program held in the Children’s Department.

HOMESCHOOL PROGRAMS: All Ages. Home School programs are offered for youth of all ages. In February, youth will explore the Wartime Exhibit at the Library and enjoy a variety of Curious George activities. In March, Uncover Your Pot of Gold! Participants will share something they collect or treasure. April activities include learning about the City of Kearney and its various departments. Please contact the youth department at Kearney Public Library to obtain more information. Program held in upstairs meeting room. Please register in library at least 3 days in advance. BABYGARTEN: Under 1 Year Old with Adult. Stories for children under 1 year old and a favorite adult! Pre-registration at Youth Desk is required. This is a six-session commitment. Program held in upstairs meeting room. Maximum: 8 pairs. Please register in library at least 3 days in advance.

CRAFTY KIDS: Preschool – Lower Elementary. Enjoy a story and make a craft! This is a quick program for youth in preschool or lower elementary school. Parents are welcome to attend the program to assist their child with the craft. Program held in upstairs meeting room.

LEGOS AT THE LIBRARY: Grades K – 5. Join your friends after school for an hour of Lego building! The Library will supply the Legos. Legos must stay at the Library. Program held in the youth program room.

GET CRAFTY!: Grades 2 – 5. A craft program for youth in grades 2 - 5 only. In February we will create a variety of Valentines. The March activity is Doodle Names and in April we will make a flower collage. Program held in upstairs meeting room. Please register in library at least 3 days in advance. TEEN MOVIE TUESDAYS: Ages 13 – 18. Watch movies on the big screen and enjoy a snack. For youth ages 13 – 18 only. Movie titles will be announced in the monthly Library Newsletter. TEEN CRAFTS: Grades 6 – 12. A craft program for youth in Grades 6 – 12 only. In January we will create washer necklaces. February’s craft is locker magnets. In March we will be making melted crayon art and in April we will create Mother’s Day gifts. Program held in upstairs meeting room. Please register in library at least 3 days in advance.
