EFFICIENT PACKAGING LINES RELY ON LAPP CABLES

For some of the industry’s most innovative equipment, leading manufacturer Hartness International relies on LAPP power and control cables to keep its DYNAC packaging systems running smoothly. / ////////////////////////////////////////////////

HIGH-PERFORMANCE CABLE

Hartness International, a leading manufacturer of innovative packaging equipment for the past 50 years, uses LAPP’s ÖLFLEX ® 190, TRAY II and VFD SLIM cables in their DYNAC accumulator. These cables give life to electromechanical components such as sensors, motors, infeeds and outfeeds. In addition to ÖLFLEX ® cables, Hartness uses LAPP SKINTOP ® cable glands in the electrical box at the bottom of the DYNAC to run the wires through. Between 20 and 30 are used for a given machine. “LAPP products are consistently great and readily available for us to use,” said Zach Crawford, Hartness purchasing engineer. “From a purchasing and assembly standpoint, they’ve proven to be very reliable.” EFFICIENCY PACKAGING The DYNAC system helps make packaging lines more efficient. Lines based on DYNAC machines require less space and have reduced labor requirements. DYNAC machines are well-known for efficiently conveying delicate packaging such as light-weighted and pressure-sensitive designs. The machine fills up a spiral overflow of products so if there’s any downtime on the manufacturing line, the product can be released to allow production to continue. It provides consistent, perfectly-pitched product flow to increase downstream machine efficiency. DYNAC also serves as a throttling device that supplies products to downstream equipment and eliminates “micro-stops” that inhibit line efficiency.

LAPP products are used primarily in DYNAC’s control panels in various conductor counts and sizes: ÖLFLEX ® 190. A multi-conductor cable with a highly oil-, coolant- and solvent-resistant PVC jacket for control and power applications in an industrial environment. Designed for use in all electrical equipment under dry, damp and wet conditions. ÖLFLEX ® TRAY II. An industrial grade tray cable with good oil performance for a long cable life. It has a pressure-extruded jacket and fine copper stranding for excellent flexibility, making it easier to pull through the tray. With UL TC-ER approval, no conduit is necessary, allowing material costs to be reduced. ÖLFLEX ® VFD SLIM. This reduced-diameter shielded motor cable for VFD drives is designed with the LAPP Surge Guard insulation system that includes a semi-conductive layer to withstand nonlinear power distortions associated with VFD drives.
