About FARO

The Federation of Asian Organizations for Radiation Oncology (FARO) was founded in 2014 as a non-profit and scientific organization. FARO is intended to function as a federation of radiation oncology societies in Asia and aims to foster the role of radiation oncology to improve the basic level of radiotherapy for the benefit of the patients in the Asian region. Asia is a major part of the global community (more than 50% of the world population) and at the same time the most heterogeneous and diverse region. FARO has 12 member societies (the national radiation oncology societies from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, South-Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Pakistan) and plans to continue to grow bigger and stronger as time goes by. The mission of FARO is to promote innovation, research, and dissemination of science and technology through its congresses, special meetings, educational courses and publications. The aims and purposes of the Federation are : 1. To promote the co-operation and communication between Radiation Oncology Organizations in the region 2. To develop the standard of education/training and research irradiation oncology and related field in the region 3. To promote the advancement in status and standard of practice of the radiation oncology profession 4. To organize and/or sponsor international conferences, regional and other meetings or courses 5. To collaborate or affiliate with other scientific or professional Organizations.

FARO has organised 3 meetings so far: • Kyoto (JP), 25-27 November 2016 • Bangalore (IN), 9-10 November 2017 • Bali (Indonesia) 6-8 September 2018
