USDEC Board Meeting

Staff from the CMAB and the CMAB Chairman attended the Fall U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) Board Meeting in October. The meeting included details on how USDEC plans to lead the industry in achieving the next 5% of global market share in dairy exports of cheese and dairy ingredients. Speakers included Max Baucus, former U.S. Ambassador to China, CEO’s of Leprino Foods, CDI and Dairygold, Sharon Bomer Lauritsen, assistant U.S. trade representative for agricultural affairs and commodity policy, Tom Bailey, senior dairy analyst, Rabobank and several USDEC staff members. In addition, the following Committee Meetings were held: Trade Policy Committee Meeting Global Ingredients Committee Meeting Cheese Consumer Products Committee Meeting With current U.S. total milk solid exports at approximately 15% of total production, USDEC’s goal is to increase total dairy exports to 20% within the next five years. While California is the leading dairy export state, there is still much that can be done to contribute towards this goal.
