Rich Memorial Beach In cooperation with the Portland Water District and the Town of Standish, this municipal facility offers a beautiful sandy beach, swimming, picnic area and outhouse facilities. In the winter, there is ice fishing access and parking available. Located in a picturesque cove on Sebago Lake, the calm, shallow water makes it an ideal spot for children to play and swim and for neighbors to meet and socialize.

2018Annual Membership: Admission is by Membership ONLY and available for purchase at the Standish Municipal Center, Parks & Recreation Department Monday—Thursday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm and online at www.standishrec.com Standish Residents: $35 per household (up to two vehicles) Non-Residents: No access unless visiting with a resident who is a member. Boaters: Must be members of the Sebago Boating Club to arrive by water. Boat stickers are available directly through the club at www.sebagoboatingclub.com

If you do not have an account, select “Create Account” and follow the prompts to complete your account setup. If you have other family members in your household to add, you can select “Add Member”. Registering for Programs & Activities Pre-registration and payment are required for all programs unless otherwise noted. Deadlines are generally one week prior to the first class. How to Register Go to www.standishrec.com and log in to your account. If you do not have an account, you will need to create one first. See below ♦ Go to www.standishrec.com and click on the New Account icon on the home page or go to the Account tab at the top right of the page and then select Create Account . ♦ Enter the primary household member and billing information. You must provide an email for billing purposes. This email will be used to send registration confirmation and billing receipts as well as updates or cancellation information for programs. If you would like to receive notifications by text, be sure when you enter your phone number that you select Cell for phone type and click the Text Notification box and then provide your cell phone carrier. ♦ If you have other members in your household that you would like to be able to register, you can add them from your account page. Below the Overview icon, click on Members and then click on Add Member and follow directions. Refund & Cancellation Policies

G eneral I nformation

Refunds If we cancel a program or event, we will refund or credit you 100% of the fee. If you withdraw 3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) before the start of the program or one-time event, we will issue you a refund, unless otherwise noted. If you withdraw fewer than 3 business days before the start of the program or one- time event, we will issue you a 50% refund, unless otherwise noted. Refunds will be provided in the form of a credit to your account. If you would like a refund to your credit card or via check, please notify us in writing and allow up to 14 days to process. Cancellation Policies We reserve the right to cancel any program which fails to meet minimum enrollment requirements, so please register early! If you

snooze, we all lose! Inclement Weather

When schools are canceled due to inclement weather or an emergency, all programs will be canceled. Notification of cancellation will be sent via email and posted on our website and

Facebook page. Confirmation

We do not send program confirmations or reminders of enrollment. If you register for a program and you have provided us with your email address, you will receive an email receipt that is automatically generated at the time of registration. If you have a question, please call us. Late Pick-Up Policy Because we require staff to remain with program participants until they are released to parents/guardians, it is important that your children be picked up promptly. Therefore, a ten minute grace period will be allowed as long as it is not a regular occurrence. A fee of $5 will be charged for each ten minute increment thereafter. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Inclusion We provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities. In order to accommodate your needs, a request must be made at least 10 days prior to the first day of the program. Please fill out and send to us the “Child Concern Form” that can be found on our website.

Before & After School Program We strive to offer children a program that is affordable, fun and safe. One of the key elements of this program is “play!” Through play, children increase their social competence and emotional maturity. Each day quiet time will be offered for participants to complete daily homework. Youth Programs

Who: Children in grades K-5 who attend Edna Libby, Steep Falls and George E. Jack Elementary Schools. Location: George E. Jack Elementary School. Before School Program (BSP): Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Excludes all school vacations, holidays, or school cancellations due to inclement weather. The nine late arrival school days are included for participants in this program. After School Program (ASP): Monday-Friday 3:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. Excludes all school vacations, holidays, or snow days at George E. Jack Elementary School. Late Arrival Package: The Before School Program WILL be held on the district’s nine scheduled late arrival days. Children enrolled in the After School Program can register for care during these late arrival days for an additional fee. Please call the office if you would like this option added to your account. Fees: Before School Program: $6 per day (paid monthly with auto-pay) After School Program: $10 per day (paid monthly with auto-pay) Cancellation Policy: Written notice is required two weeks prior to the desired withdrawal date. A refund will be issued at a pro-rated amount for the remainder of the program, beginning on the first day of the next monthly billing cycle. Any days remaining in the month of withdrawal will not be refunded.

Youth Camps Please visit us at www.standishrec.com for a complete list of program details and requirements School Vacation Camps Join us during school vacation weeks in February and April, for lots of fun activities, inside and out! Your child will stay busy with field trips, scheduled activities and fun games! Camp is held at George E. Jack Elementary School on Tuesday - Thursday and Standish Municipal Center on Friday. Time: 7:00 am - 6:00 pm Grades: K-6 Cost: $125 for early bird registration. Details and deadlines posted online .

Kayak Camp We are partnering with Sebago Trails Paddling Company and other local recreation departments to offer a week-long Kayak Camp. Participants will learn safety skills and fun games while getting used to being

on the water during the first few days, and then the last two days are full day kayaking trips. Our staff will transport the participants to the Rich Memorial Beach or other paddling destinations daily. Dates: Week of 8/20/18-8/24/18 Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Grades: 5-10 Cost: $225 Tennis Summer Camp We are partnering with St. Peter’s Grand Slam Tennis to offer a week long tennis camp, which includes challenging instruction and caters to all skill levels. For beginners, a progressive format is followed while teaching the basics of tennis. For the intermediate and advanced players, every session consists of drills to refine strokes, conditioning exercises, strategy and competitive match play. Dates: Week of 7/16/18-7/20/18 Time: 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm Ages: 7-14 Cost: $150 Location: Johnson Field Tennis Courts

Campers in grades K - 9 will enjoy a variety of indoor/outdoor activities includingfield trips, special events, crafts, live entertainment, sports, swimming, and games. Campers in Teen Adventure Camp will participate in age-appropriate field trips and games with peers, conduct team building activities, community service and fund-raising projects. Daily field trips may include beaches, theme parks, outdoor adventures such as hiking, water sports and more!

Registration Begins March 26, 2018! Camp Edna: located at Edna Libby Elementary School for campers entering grades K-3 in fall 2018. Camp Jack: located at George E. Jack Elementary School for campers entering grades 4-6 in fall 2018. Teen Adventure Camp: located at George E. Jack Elementary School & Rec Portable behind the school for teens entering grades 7-9 in fall 2018. Regular Camp Day Hours - 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (field trips and scheduled activities between these hours) Extended Day Program Hours – 7:00 am - 6:00 pm (supervised, non-structured activities during the extended hours) Offered for all three camps.

Rec Camp Fees Fees are per child for the entire summer and include: all field trips, special events, entertainment, one t-shirt, school bus transportation, staff, supplies and facilities. Weekly Rate - Looking for a change from the typical summer routine? Consider signing your child(ren) up for one-week time slots. Please note that this rate is designed for people sending their children for 4 weeks or less. Camp Fees for the Full 7-Week Session: Regular Camp Day: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm $650.00 Extended Camp Day: 7:00 am - 6:00 pm $950.00 Weekly Rate Regular Camp Day: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm $130.00 Extended Camp Day: 7:00 am - 6:00 pm $180.00 T-Shirts One t-shirt is provided with registration (it’s the same color as last year). Camp t-shirts must be worn for certain field trips 2-3 days/week. Additional shirts available to purchase for $10 at our on-line store. Check our website for deadline dates to order your extra t-shirt. Registration Process: Online or at the Recreation Office Resident Registration: Begins March 26, 2018 Non-resident Registration: Begins April 11, 2018. Deadline to Register is June 1 for the full summer (or until the program fills up). After June 1, the weekly rate and guidelines apply for the available weeks. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required at time of registration. Balance due by June 7, 2018. Thursday, June 7 - Final Payments Due Please note that payments in full are required by Thursday, June 7. We will be partnering with St. Peter’s Grand Slam Tennis to offer a free tennis day. This will be to introduce tennis to boys and girls ages 8 – 14. There will be introductory drills along with instruction on how to improve their game. Registration is required. Date: Sunday, 5/6/18 Time: 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm Ages: 8-14 Cost: Free Location: Johnson Field Tennis Courts Kickball Club This activity will promote having fun outside and being active with friends. We will go over basic rules and split into teams each week to play friendly competitive games. Dates: Tuesdays, 5/8/18-6/5/18 Time: 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm Grades: 2-5 Cost: $20 Location: George E. Jack Elementary School Baseball Field Ultimate Frisbee This introductory program offers instruction on the rules of the game and proper frisbee throwing techniques. There will be fun drills and practicing of passing accuracy. This activity will promote being active outside and having fun with friends. Once kids learn how to play, they will split into teams and scrimmage. Dates: Mondays, 5/14/18-6/11/18 Time: 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm Grades: 3-5 Cost: $25 Location: George E. Jack Elementary School

Track & Field This program is associated with the Maine Recreation and Parks Association’s Track & Field Program. Their mission is to provide a quality recreation program for children where they can have fun while being introduced to physical fitness. We will host five practices after school and participants will have the opportunity to compete in a local, regional and state meet if they qualify and choose (transportation is not included). This is a good introduction to the summer USATF competitive program offered in Gorham. Dates: Thursdays, 5/10/18-6/7/18 Time: 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm Grades: K-5 Cost: $35 Location: George E. Jack Elementary School Youth Rugby We are partnering with Gorham Parks & Recreation to offer a rugby program through Challenger Sports. Challenger Sports offers Rugby clinics to communities across the United States and Canada. Players practice and play a form of flag rugby which is a fun and safe game that develops a range of ball handling, running and evasion skills. Our rookie rugby programs are non-contact as well as co-ed. Dates: Wednesdays, 5/9/18-6/6/18 Ages: 6-14 Time: Ages 6-9: 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm / Ages 10-14: 6:00 pm –7:00pm Cost: $60 Location: Village School, Gorham—Upper Village Field

Family Paddle Sports We are partnering with Sebago Trails Paddling Company to provide an opportunity for your family to either kayak or paddle board. This program offers the first hour as instruction and then you will have the remaining three hours on your own to enjoy paddling around Sebago Lake. This is a discounted rate from the normal half day rental price. Kids under age twelve must be accompanied by an adult. Dates: Saturdays, 6/2/18-9/1/18 Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Ages: 4-103 Cost: $27.00 per class (pre-registration required before class) Location: Sebago Trails Paddling Company

2018 Fall Soccer Program We offer an instructional recreation soccer program for kids in pre-k through grade 12. Our youth sports philosophy is: “Keep it simple. Make it fun. Everybody plays.” We focus on skill development, teamwork and fun. Our goal is to create a culture where kids love to play the game. Our website will have details posted and registration available by June 4 th . Registration Deadline: 8/9/2018 Dates: 9/8/2018 – 10/13/2018 *subject to change Prices vary depending on age. Volunteer Coaches: Become a volunteer coach! We will train you. The success of this program depends on volunteers. No experience is necessary. If you enjoy working with kids and can follow a weekly curriculum, then you are well on your way to making a positive impact on a child in our community.

Games & Movie Night This will be a fun, kids-only movie and games night! Drop your kids off with us and we will have pizza and popcorn provided with some gym time and games before the movie starts. Parents can have a fun adult night out. If your child is currently enrolled in the After School Program you will not need to pick your child up until 8:30 pm. Movie TBD. Dates: Friday, 5/18/18 Time: 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm Grades: K-6 Cost: $15 per child Location: George E. Jack Elementary School Nerf Night We’ll have a variety of individual and group challenges/obstacles to participate in. Participants will need to bring his/her own eye protection and Nerf toy. Please mark your child’s toy with his/her name. We supply the darts and ask that you do not bring darts from home. Dates: Friday, 4/6/18 Time: 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Grades: 2-6 Cost: $15 per child Location: George E. Jack Elementary School Mother-Son Sportsfest This will be a fun filled night of sports between mothers and sons. We will play a variety of games including dodgeball, pillo/floor hockey, obstacle course relays and tag games. This activity will promote playing with your kids along with learning new games to play at home. It will be a fun relaxed environment filled with lots of laughs

Youth Enrichment Babysitting Course

Children will learn about the responsibilities of becoming a babysitter. Topics include the business of babysitting, emergency procedures and basic first aid, child care, amusement of children and more. Upon

completion of this course, participants will receive an American Red Cross Babysitting Certification. Full attendance is mandatory to obtain certificate. Participants should bring a bagged lunch. Date: Saturday, 6/9/18 Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Location: Watchic Lake Room, Standish Municipal Center Instructor: Gail Platts (Certified Food Protection Manager, M.S. Adult & Higher Ed) Home Alone Class This class is designed to build confidence, emphasize safety issues, and prepare kids for the challenges associated with staying home alone. Participants will find solutions to issues including safe internet and phone usage, stranger danger, and food preparation. Participants will prepare a snack as part of the class. Basic first aid skills, identifying potential hazards, and what to do in an emergency will also be discussed. Kindness Rocks Are you familiar with the Kindness Rocks Project? It is an act of kindness that’s taking off around our country and Standish can be a part of it!

Join us for our Family Kindness Rocks Event! We find the rocks for you...you come and paint your own positive message and design. Then you leave them in a place where someone can find them. The person who finds them will take a picture of the rock and post it onto social media tagging the rock owner with the hashtag or user name page on the rock. Line Dancing Dancers of all levels are encouraged to participate! This is a great form of exercise, not to mention a lot of fun! Learn line dancing moves, enjoy pop and country music hits and meet new people.

Paddleboard Lesson & Excursion

Join Sebago Trails Paddling Company for an adult education paddle boarding experience. This will be a two part lesson and excursion. The first class will consist of safety and learning to paddleboard, while the second class will be putting the skills you learned previously to use with an excursion on Sebago Lake.

What is Pickleball? A fun sport for all ages and skill levels that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. The rules are simple, and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. Played as doubles or singles, both indoors or outdoors, on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes.

Wiffleball League (Adult Co-ed)

A dult F itness & S ports

This is not your typical backyard game! It’s an adult co-ed summer wiffleball league with non-traditional rules. It will be a modified game that is easy to learn and easier to play. Check out our website for complete rules of the game and how to play. This is meant to be a fun recreation league for adults only. No experience necessary. You can come to hangout with friends and enjoy some friendly competition. Teams are 5-10 players each. You may request to be placed on a team w/friends. Email Brady Lloyd at blloyd@standish.org

This group is open to all seniors of the Standish community. No invitation is necessary, but reservations are required. Each month brings a new educational topic or entertainment for the group to share. Lunch, social and sometimes a brief business meeting are included. New members are always welcome! Mah Jongg Bridge Club Dates: 2 nd & 4 th Wednesday of the month Time: 11:00 am, lunch served at 12:00 pm

Mah Jongg is a Chinese game played, usually by four people,

using rectangular tile pieces. The object is to collect winning sets of these tiles, as in card games such as gin rummy. This game is meant for players who already know the game and are familiar with the official Mah Jongg rules. If you snooze we all lose...so please register early! A minimum number of participants is required in order to offer trips and classes. Early registration will ensure that your seat is reserved and that you won’t miss out due to low registration. Programs and trips take coordination and planning. The sooner we know how many to

expect, the better the planning. Deadlines are generally one week prior to the first class/trip unless otherwise noted, however, more notice is preferred. Some of our trips will be in collaboration with other local recreation departments. This will help us to reach our minimumenrollment for trips requiring a motor coach or theatre tickets, etc. Most trips depart from the Standish Municipal Center upper parking lot, unless otherwise stated. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to board the bus. Times listed are “pull out of the parking lot” times.

Mystery Lunch Travel with us and enjoy a chance to experience a surprise restaurant location in the Greater Portland area. Order off the menu and pay on your own. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and dine together in a social setting. We’ll take the scenic route while you enjoy the ride. (Max of 13). Lancaster County is known for its scenic beauty and is home to one of the oldest Amish settlements in the US. Our guided tour of Lancaster will include a visit to the Landis Valley Living History Museum, filled with historic buildings and costumed interpreters who demonstrate the daily life of a 19 th Century Pennsylvania Dutch Village. Also included is a guided tour of Philadelphia with stops at Independence Hall, Penn’s Landing, and the home of Betsy Ross. We will also visit “the sweetest place on earth” – Hershey PA and learn the story of Milton Hershey and his innovative approach to chocolate making while at the Hershey Story Museum. Last but not least, we will experience Gettysburg National Park and the breathtaking 22,000 square foot visitor center. This trip is in cooperation with local recreation departments. All breakfasts and four dinners are included. Lunches are on your own. Gratuity for bus driver and tour guides are not included and will be at your discretion.
