Hansen cont. .. Junior in 2003: No player made more of a dramatic impact on San Diego's wee Championship team of2003 ... Down the stretch and into the WCC Championship Series, a total of eight games, Hansen was 16-of-32 (.500 BA), drove in 17 runs and hit five homers... Was named d1e WCC Player of the Week (6-1 2-03) for his outstanding play at Portland in the fina l series of the regular season. .. Hit a go-ahead three-run homer with two-outs in the ninth inning during USD's Saturday game w ith the Pilots (5-10-03), helping San Diego clinch d1e WCCWest Divisio n title . .. One week later at Pepperdine (5-25-03), w im USD's season and the league championship on the line (USD trailed 1-0 in the eighth inning of game three of the WCC Championship Series) Hansen hit a go-ahead two-run shot that clinched the 2003 WCC Championship... Enjoyed a nine-game hitting streak from April 5-April 19, then went on a IO-game hitting streak from May 4-May 31... Had 15 multi-hit games, 10 with three or more hits tied a team-high .. . Had 12 multi-RBI games, eight with three or more RBI was a team-best. .. Started in 57 games on the year, 37 in left field, 14 at catcher and 6 as the DH . .. Hit in a career-high five RBI against Portland (5-10- 03) ... Went 3-for-4 with two homers, a double and fou r RBI vs. Loyola Marymount (5-4-03) ... Registered a career-high five hits, going 5-for-6, with three doubles and four RBI against St. Mary's (4-19-03)... Tripled and homered, going 3-for-4 w ith three RBI at Texas Tech (2-9-03). .. Sophomore in 2003: Started on three occasions and pitched extremely well in spots... His playing time was limited due to injury... Struck out 10 batters in seven and two thirds innings against San Francisco (3-8-03)... Was inserted into the ro le of San Diego's mid-week starter following that performance... Went on to sit down 29 batters via the strikeout in 29 plus innings on the year. .. Posted an 0-4 overall record and an ERA of8.80.. Made 11 total appea rances with most o f his work coming in March and April. 2001 and 2002: Injury limited Gillespie to just three appearances during his first two seasons. Prep: Played at West Linn High School in West Linn , Oregon... All-Three Rivers League pitcher senior season helping team to playoffs... Junior sea- son team also advanced to playoffs .
