USD ADMINISTRATION Ky Snyder - Executive Director of Athletics Ky Snyder was named Executive Director of Athletics/Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs on No,·ember 10th, 2003 at a press conference held in the Warren Hospitality Suite. Dr. Mary E. Lyons, USO President, introduced Sm·der who returns to USD where he was Director of Athletic Development between 1990-1996 He comes to USD from the San Diego International Sports Council where he held the position of President. With rhe San Diego International Sports Council , the --11-year-old Snyder's primary responsibility was tg promote San Diego/Tijuana as the preferred region for sporting events and activities that benefit the community both ec 1ically and socially. Recent accomplishments of the Sports Counci l bid efforts include securing for San Diego the 1997 and -1'998 ESPN Summer X Games, the Suzuki Rock ·n· Roll J\lararhon, the 1999 /llajor League Soccer All-Star Game, the inaugura l Bank of America/ U.S. Olympic Cup, NCAA Division I Men·s Basketball First & Second Round (2001) contests, the :\ICAA Di,·ision I

Women·s Volleyball Championships (2001) and Super Bowl XXXVI I In the spring of 2001 , Snyder was named the President of the San Diego Super Bowl Host Committee schedu led for January 26, 2003. He is a member of the Boa rd of Directors of the San Diego NFL Youth Education Town, the San Diego Super Bowl Task Force, the SDSU Campanile Foundation Athletic Advisory Commission and the Curricu lum Committee of SDsu·s Hospitality and Tourism Management Program. He is a member of the San Diego Downtown Rotary Club on the military affai rs committee and Thanksgiving Day program. Snyder was also the Executive Director of the Sa n Diego International Sports Foundation. Prior to join ing the SDISC, Snyder was the Director of Athletic Development at the University of Sa n Diego fo r six years. At USD he was responsible for establishing the Torero Athletic Association, fund-raisi ng efforts fo r athletics, managing athletic special events and generating corporate sponsorship of athletics. Ar USD he'll work closely with Jo-Ann Nester, Director of Athletics, in overseeing an athletic deparmtment with sixteen NCAA Division I intercollegiate teams and approximately 390 student-athletes. He'll be responsible fo r all administrative, management and supervisory aspects of the Department of Athletics. Addironally, he' ll oversee the strategic long-range planning and monitoring of budgets, personnel, programs, facilities, fu ndraisi ng, promotions and marketing, and public relations fo r an NCAA Division I program consisting of eight sports fo r men and eight sports fo r women. Snyder played football at San Diego State University and remains active in the Aztec Athletic Foundation. Snyder holds a Bachelor's Degree in Ma rketing from San Diego State University and has studied in the Master's Leadership Program at the University of Sa n Diego. He is a guest lecturer at the University of San Diego's MBA Sports Management program and the SDSU Hospitality Management program. Snyder, who has been a San Diego resident for 20 years, has a very athletic fami ly. His wife, Sue, was a former sta ndout member of the United States women's national volleyba ll team who played at San Diego State and also coached the Aztecs and Un iversity of San Diego·s volleyba ll teams. In addition, Snyder's father, Lester, held the position as President of the United Stares Tennis Association. The Snyder's reside in Poway with their son Riley (age 10), daughter Sydney (age 7) and daughter Cammy (age 4).

Jo-Ann Nester - Director of Athletics/SWA Jo-Ann Nester was promoted to Di rector of Ath letics at the University of San Diego on September 25, 2003. Nester, who was in her second year as Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator, will oversee all the da ily operations of the Torero athletic department that includes sixteen NCAA Division I intercollegiate programs. She replaced Tom Iannacone who announced his reti rement on July 14th after directing the depa rtment for fifteen years. In her role this past yea r at USD, Nester had direct supervisory responsibility for nine varsity sports programs

including budget preparation and oversight, su pervision of all head and assistant coaches, scheduling, travel and program evaluation. Additionally, she was involved with fundraising for women·s sports programs; she had direct supervisory re– sponsibility for the areas of Compliance, Academic Support, CHAMPS Life Skills, oversight of Student Athletic Council, New Athlete Orientation program and the Faculty Team Advisor Program; she assisted in the monitoring of gender equity: was the Senior Woman Administrator Liaison to the West Coast Conference and NCAA; event management responsibilires for three reams; and was the department liaison for Admissions, Drug and Alcohol Education, Dining Services, Housing and Work Study. Nester is committed to maintaining the University and Athletic Department commitment to providing an outstanding and successful NCAA Division I ath letic program within the rigorous academic environment that is the University of San Diego. In 2002-03, six Torero teams went to the NCAA's and Ashley Swart became the first USD swimmer to qua lify for the NCAA Championships and was named an Honorable Mention All-American. Academi– ca lly, thirteen athletes were named to West Coast Conference All-Academic reams , nine footba ll players were named to the Pioneer Football League All – Academic ream and two student - athletes were honored as 2nd Team Verizon Academic All America ns. Conti nuing this tradition of excellence in the classroom and competitive arena while providing an excellent athletic experience fo r our student-athletes will be the priority during Nester's tenure as the USO Director of Athletics. Nester came to USD from Dartmouth College where she held the position of Associate Director of Athletics for nine years. Her duties included oversight of compliance, student services, promotions and marketing, and numerous sports programs. Prior to her appointment at Da rtmouth College, she was the Director of Athletics and Recreation at Saint Ma ry's College in Notre Dame, Indiana between 1984-93. In addition, she has a coaching background at the high school and college levels, and has served on several committees within the NCAA, ECAC and Ivy League. Jo-Ann 's educational background includes a B.S. degree in Hea lth and Physica l Education from West Chester State College (1971); a Master of Science degree from West Chester (1 976); an Ed. D Doctor of Education from Temple University (1 985); and she completed the Sports Ma nagement Institute in the Executive Program at the University of Notre Dame 0992).
