All-PFL Honorable Mention Returners USD: Josh Brisco returns for his fifth and final year and will again start at defensive back... Last year earned PFL honor– able mention honors for the 2nd straight year after totaling 36 tackles (23 solo), a team-best 4 interceptions and 4 pass breakups... totaled a season-best 7 tackles (6 solo) in key road win over Dayton ... added 5 stops in PFL championship win over Morehead State ... In 2004 appeared in 10 contests where he totaled 39 stops (29 solo) with 3 pass breakups and 1forced fumble ... he tallied a season-best 9 stops in win over Valparaiso... In 2003 he appeared in 7 contests and finished with 7 tackles. High School: Prepped at Catalina Foothills HS where he was 1st Team All-State at running back... 80 car– ries for over 700 yards... USD: John Matthews enters his third year at USD, and second year competing on the field as a wide receiver.. . He is a projected starter in 2006 ... Last year caught 14 balls for 400 yards and 6 touchdowns... His 28.6 yards per catch average led the team... He also averaged a team-best 25.6 yards on 13 kickoff returns... Earned PFL honorable mention honors as a return specialist.. . In PFL Championship victory over Morehead State hauled in 2 touchdown receptions (39 & 30 yards) ... also had TD receptions against Southern Oregon, Princeton , Butler and Dayton .. . In 2004 he sat out as a redshirt. High School: Prepped at Regis Jesuit High School where he was an All-State performer with 67 catches for 1,188 yards his senior season... USD: Hutch Parker returns for his junior campaign with the Toreros where he will again handle the kicking duties... last year led team in scoring with 89 points while setting school records for converted PAT kicks in a game (9-9 vs. Valpo), season (62 made) and career (107 made) .. . named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week (Sept. 4) after making 3-4 field goals and 3-3 PATs in season-opening win over Azusa Pacific... In 2004 ranked 2nd on the team in points with 63... converted 6-of-8 field goals with long of 38 against Dayton ... made 45 straight PAT kicks (new school record) before missing last attempt of season ... averaged 38.8 yards on 4 punts... named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week twice (9-12, 11-14). High School: Played for the 2003 Academy League Champion St. Margaret's Episcopal School ... Converted 11 of 13 field goals his senior year with a long of 49 yards to earn First Team All-League and Second Team All-County and AII-CIF honors... Also named All-League his junior year, making 9 of 11 field goals with a long of 60 yards... Earned All-League and CIF MVP honors in soccer, leading St. Margaret's to the 2003 CIF Championship... USD: Jon Polk enters his senior year where he will again compete at fullback and play a key role as a team leader... Last year rushed for 231 yards and a team-best 8 touchdowns.. . Tied a school record with 4 rushing TDs in 42-35 home win over Maris! as he totaled 69 yards on 17 carries - was named PFL Player of the Week for his efforts... Key 4th quarter TD rush (3 yards) in PFL championship win over Morehead State ... Added 13 receptions for 82 yards... In 2004 he caught 9 balls out of the backfield for 52 yards and 1TD (8 yards vs. So. Oregon)... Played key role as blocker for RB Evan Harney (1,334 yards)... Carried the ball 16 times for 49 yards... In 2003 he played a key role in USD's offense with his run blocking ability and pass protection ... Finished with 31 yards rushing on the season, including 15 yards and 1TD in win over Butler... Is a three-time PFL Honor Roll selection for his academic achievements. High School: Came to USD from Dominguez High School where he was a two-way performer... He rushed for over 1,000 yards and had 133 tackles while earning AII-CIF, All-Region and All– San Gabriel Valley honors... Also lettered in baseball. ----------------------- USD: JT Rogan returns for his third season and second on the playing field ... last season led the Toreros with 944 yards on he ground and 7 rushing touchdowns... also totaled 36 receptions for 320 yards and 4 scores.. . tallied 5 games with 100 r more yards of rushing , including 180 yards and 3 TDs in win at Dayton (named PFL Offensive Player of the Week for his effort) ... added 176 yards on the ground and 9 receptions for 92 yards in key PFL win over Drake... tied for 2nd on the team in points with 66 ... sat out the 2004 season as a redshirt. High School: Led Coronado to a 9-2 record and earned All-State honors with over 1,700 yards rushing his senior year... Rushed for over 1,000 yards and named All-League for the 2002 Harbor League Champions... Was his team's leading tackler, rusher and receiver his sophomore season... Also a two-time All-League baseball player. Personal: Born on June 13, 1986 in La Jolla, CA... Also recruited by Penn, Dartmouth and Redlands...
