Tasting Notes

Bodega Catena Zapata is a family-owned winery located in Mendoza, in the sub region of Agrelo. Malbec is the grape that defines Argentinean viticulture, it clearly thrives in Argentina’s high-altitude vineyards in the foothills of the Andes. The wine has a floral bouquet of violets, dark fruit and touches of vanilla and spice. The palate offers sweet black cherry fruit, a generous texture and marked mineral notes as well as layers of chocolate and spicy black pepper. 100% Malbec, aged for 12 months in French oak. Catena Malbec is a natural with red meat, especially a good burger.

Located in the village of Cairanne, Domaine Grosset belonged to Alain Grosset, Laurent Brotte’s father-in-law. The family has always been very active in the life of the village, especially in the development of its AOC. The vineyard consists of two different types of soil: grey marls with sand, for freshness and structure, and terraces of sandy clay and stones, for aromatic intensity. The warm climate is perfect for ripening Grenache.
