Message from the President I'm pleased to greet you on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra (LSO) in the beginning of the 37th season. Glover's most notable achievement was leading a last minute performance of Carmina Burana for the North Carolina Symphony while stepping in for Music Director Grant Llewellyn. Llewellyn is an internationally known Welsh conductor who is the music director at both the North Carolina

The Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra is elevating its expertise to a new level with the addition of David Glover as its new Music Director and Conductor. Glover is a renowned conductor who has many high achievements in his career. Glover held the position of Assistant Conductor of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at the start of his career, then afterwards he became the Associate Conductor of the North Carolina Symphony. He was with the North Carolina Symphony from the 2014-2015 season until coming to the LSO. Glover has many memorable moments in his musical career, each revolving around relationships with different musicians. Glover said it is an incredible blessing to work with many famous musicians, and it was very hard to pick a favorite. "I learned so much from Roberto Abbado, the first big-named conductor that I had worked with " Glover said. "He taught me man; important technical aspects of great conducting by having me think about the audience's point of view." Glover said Abbado would have him sit in various spots in the audience and give direction, while learning skills to be used in his own conducting. Glover has the tendency

The concert will feature traditional Christmas music as well as hymns and contemporary holiday music. Several soloists, choirs and special musicians will also be performing. This is a festive celebration you won' t want to miss! January 25, 2020 Broadway by Request - This coming January the LSO will be performing selections from several well-known musicals including Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Jersey Boys, and Rent, among others. The concert will also feature two guest soloists who have performed in the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. This will be an unforgettable concert filled with some of the most popular show tunes of all time. March 7, 2020 Festival of Bach - This coming spring, the LSO will be performing a concert featuring concertos by famous composer Johann Sebastian Bach.

The concert will be held at Heritage United Methodist Church instead of the Academy Center of the Arts, so be sure to join the Orchestra for a relaxing concert with an intimate chamber feel. April 3, 2020 Lynchburg's Finest - The season ends with a spectacular concert featuring local talent. Lynchburg's own Emily Rist Glover will be performing the Glazunov Violin Concerto, and the LSO will be performing side-by-side with the Lynchburg Symphony Youth Orchestra for the Beethoven Coriolan Overture. The concert will end with the LSO's performance of Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony. Bring your friends and family for a beautiful showcase of local talent! 2019-2020 Season Preview

It's going to be a great season with Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra. Here's a sneak peak of all the upcoming events: October 18, 2019 Beethoven@ 250 - The LSO will be starting its 2019-2020 season with a concert honoring renowned composer Ludwig van Beethoven's 250th birthday. This concert is part of a two-season celebration and will include Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, Emperor, as well as his famous Symphony No. 5. Internationally known pianist Dr. Stephen Beus will be performing the Piano Concerto. Come out on October 18th to hear Beethoven's music at its finest! December 13, 2019 Happy Holidays with the LSO - The LSO will be holding its second annual holiday concert on December 13.
