Ombud Council AR 2026
PART C: GOVERNANCE
13. Social Responsibility The Council participated in the Mandela Day Initiative on 18 July 2025 by spending the day with learners at the Ikamva Youth Centre, a non-profit organisation that supports high school learners from under-resourced communities to access post-school opportunities through academic tutoring, mentoring, and career guidance. The Council provided school materials, shared knowledge on consumer education, and volunteering at learner support stations to help young people take their next step in education or career pathways.
The Council’s statutory mandate to promote and assist in ensuring access to ombud schemes for financial customers is in itself part of the broader national social responsibility and financial inclusion agenda. Recognising this, the Council has contributed to the development of the National Treasury’s Financial Inclusion and National Financial Customer Education policies.
