LEADING THE WAY FOR FOOTBALL CLUBS IN EUROPE | No. 1 - 2014/15

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// NEWSLETTER /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// FOR TOP DIVISION CLUBS IN EUROPE /////

FOREWORD /////////////////////////////////////////// The official beginning of the 2014/15 ECA season was marked by the 13th ECA General Assembly, which gathered 149 clubs in Geneva, and provided ECA Members with updated information on Financial Fair-Play, Integrity Matters and distribution model for the clubs benefits derived from UEFA EURO 2016. With regards to FFP, ECA recommended that the prize money withheld due to non-compliance with FFP rules should be distributed among all clubs that participated in UEFA's club competitions in the 2013/14 season. This was subsequently adopted by the UEFA Executive Committee, and all details can be found inside the newsletter. Additionally, the Executive Committee similarly announced the UEFA EURO 2016 solidarity contributions to clubs. Both announcements are very positive for clubs and I strongly encourage you to attentively read the relevant detailed sections. At FIFA level, the Executive Committee notably took the decision that third-party ownership of players’ economic rights (TPO) shall be banned after a transitional period of 3-4 years. It also extended the Club Protection Programme until 2018. We hope you find this Edition of our newsletter both useful and informative. Please do not hesitate to make contact with the ECA Administration at admin@ecaeurope.com should you have any questions about ECA and its functioning. I wish you a successful 2014/15 season!
