EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION GUIDE

Exhaust Hoods and Electrical / Mechanical Chase (Grills and Fryers)

General Contractor 1. All plywood wall sheathing and blocking must be complete prior to installation. 2. All wall finishes (ceramic tile or FRP) must be complete prior to installation.

3. All quarry tile base and floor must be complete prior to installation. 4. Acid wash should be completed on the floor prior to FAB being delivered. 5. Acoustical ceiling grid must be complete prior to installation. It is acceptable to leave cross tee sections uninstalled in the area of the hoods to facilitate ductwork welding. 6. Confirm exhaust fan installation and electrical hook ups are complete. 7. Upon completion of exhaust ductwork installation and inspection, the GC and their subcontractors are responsible to supply and install firewrap insulation to the exhaust ductwork. 8. Finalize installation of the exhaust ductwork by having the firewrap insulation inspected and approved.

HVAC Contractor 1. All exhaust fans and curbs must be complete prior to delivery of hoods. 2. Holes in roof deck must be cut prior to equipment delivery.

Plumbing Contractor 1. If exhaust hoods are to be used with gas cooking equipment, complete final gas connections to the mechanical electrical chase. 2. Complete gas hook up of cooking equipment, including safety cables and shutoff valves. 3. Replace screws in mechanical chases when work is complete. Electrical Contractor 1. Complete wiring connections of main power feeder to mechanical / electrical chase. 2. Complete interlock wiring with cooking equipment and exhaust fans. 3. Complete final wiring of receptacles for grills or fryers. 4. Test all receptacles in mechanical / electrical chase to ensure they are “hot” and supplied with the correct power and phasing. 5. Replace screws in mechanical chases when work is completed.
