OVERCOMING HURDLES

As I was looking through the articles featured in this month’s Splash, it’s so impressive to see the resilience of our associates in overcoming hurdles both professionally and personally.

While our markets have stabilized since the downturn and are showing positive signs of growth, our commitments have always been to outpace the market. This means that we have had to find creative ways to drive growth and serve cus- tomers. While that hurdle is tough enough, we also had to find ways to do it by self-funding many of our growth efforts by being even more operationally efficient. I am so proud of your performance over the last several months in rising to the occasion and delivering big. We should be incredibly proud of the industry leading results and visibility we are receiving. I’m even more encouraged by the compassion shown by our associates to help family and friends overcome health-related hurdles. There’s a great article about our team in Texas truly demonstrating our most important core value … “Taking Care of Each Other.” We can have such an incredible impact on the lives of our col- leagues and families as we come together to support each other. It’s a great exam- ple of what makes this company the best … our associates.

Waterworks drivers place 1st and 3rd in HDS competition!

At the Second Annual HD Supply Driver of the Year Competition held in Atlanta in mid April, HDS Waterworks sent its top drivers from each of our six regions and our Fire Protection division to compete against the best drivers from our fellow HDS business units C&I (White Cap) and FM (Facilities Maintenance). HDS Waterworks took home first and third place in the competition!

The top driver was Justin Sleeth from the Grimes, IA branch and in third place was David Kroviak from the Utica, NY branch. Congratula- tions to Justin and David, and all of our drivers who participated! David Kroviak (yellow shirt) is the third place

winner; Justin Sleeth, third from the left, next to Joe DeAngelo, was the first place winner
