Helping turn scrap into profit

In the field of machining, the treatment of processing waste coming from goldsmiths and industrial processing is a difficult aspect for companies to manage. In fact, metal chips, whether aluminium, brass, steel, titanium or other alloys, must be treated according to specific rules dictated by both legislative and economic requirements. Sensitive to all these aspects, Violi has developed chip processing equipment that allows turning the chips into almost solid metal briquettes using hydraulic compression technology in a small chamber. All compliant with the applicable international standards, Violi’s machines for chip briquetting are: • The chips and swarf hydraulic manual briquetter model VM/CIT consists of a container where residues are loaded manually and compressed by hydraulic pistons in order to get octagonal shaped briquettes of 46 or 70mm depending on the crucible used • The hydraulic automatic compactor model VM/CTA0, suitable for small production runs, consists of a single piston compacting system for the briquette production. The processing cycle is manual and the compressed briquette is automatically ejected outside the machine • The hydraulic automatic briquetter for metal swarf VM/CTA’s series, suitable The rolling ring drive has been around for decades. It is an efficient mechanism that imparts linear motion to a carrier from a plain rotating shaft. The beauty of the system lies in the ability to vary pitch with ease and for it to synchronise with line speed when winding cable onto reels. Originally designed in Germany, there are now countless versions of the mechanism produced around the world. Marldon took a look at this mechanism to see if it could be improved, and to remove two undesirable side effects of the mechanism. The unit clamps around the shaft using springs positioned between the carriage body and the shaft along which it is travelling. The carriage therefore effectively floats along the shaft on these springs, giving rise to unwanted movement varying with the load applied. Some manufacturers have overcome this by adding an extra internal A very different approach. . .

for medium and large production, is composed of a chamber with double hydraulic piston to compact the chip which is automatically ejected outside the machine In order to maximise efficiency and increase profits, chip briquetting is one of the best solutions for the management and resale of scrap metals. Whether reducing the expense of handling materials, or to turn a profit on scrap metal recycling, Violi’s metal briquetting presses can help your business make the most of its scrap metals. The system must also be entirely dismantled to effect repairs/replacements as the body and internal components operate as a mutually dependent set. The solution came in the form of the Marldon RT range of traversing units that separate the function of carrying the carriage on the shaft (the box body) and the function of applying pressure to the shaft (the spring loading). In this system the carriage is supported on bushes making it completely stable, and the spring pressure is applied using a separate spring loaded clamping plate. The connection between the two components allows for some float in the non-critical vertical plane, but not in the critical horizontal plane, so maintaining positioning accuracy along the shaft.
