3rd Grade Math Scope & Sequence
b. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
Standard 3.OA.9 Identify arithmetic patterns (including patterns in the addition table or multiplication table), and explain them using properties of operations. For example, observe that four times a number is always even, and explain why four times a number can be decomposed into two equal addends .
End of Unit Competency
By the end of Topic 4 students will be able to use known multiplication facts to fnd unknown division facts and describe the relationship between multiplication and division.
Language Functions & Features Describe data and/or steps to solve problems using:
● Mathematical terms ( fact family, patterns, inverse, factors, product, dividend, divisor, quotient ) ● Past tense doing verbs ( joined, separated ) and thinking verbs ( remembered, thought, fgured out ) to recount steps ● Visuals ( array, table, bar diagram ) to support approach and/or solution ● Declarative statements to state conclusion ( The number that makes the equation correct is … because… )
