Put into a tumbler one egg and one table- spoonful of icing sugar; beat well together, then add a gill of boiling water, half a wine glass of brandy, and the like quantity of Santa Cruz or white rum ; keep stirring while adding the ingredients together, and dust with nutmeg. Another Mixture. Beat up in a large tumbler or a jug four yolks and two whites of eggs with a quarter of a pound of icing sugar, and then add half a pint of boiling water; when well mixed, add two wineglasses of brandy and one of Jamaica rum; dust with nutmeg. Rum. Beat in a large tumbler two eggs with a table- spoonful of icing sugar ; then add half a pint of boiling mild ale, a little grated nutmeg or ginger, and a piece of lemon-peel; when well mixed, add a wineglass of Santa Cruz or white rum, then strain and serve, dusting with cin namon.
