An air mail cover from Shansi to England, on reverse bearing CNC surcharged on SYS $1,000 on $2, and Shanghai Dah Tung print $3,000, $5,000 and $10,000 x 5, tied by character ‘SHANSI’ cds, total rate $59,000. This cover was mailed on the first day of the new surface postal rate and airmail rate (1st Mar 1948) which was changed from $11,000 to $14,000 for surface rate and from $40,000 to $45,000 for air rate respectively.
