Fully electric tube bending machines for complex exhaust solutions

tube bending machines supplied by Schwarze-Robitec, the company is equipped to tackle these challenges at its production site in Tondela, Portugal. With the CNC 80/60 E TB MR, Schwarze-Robitec combines two special requirements in one machine. As an intermediate size, it features the bending head transmission and bending capacity of a CNC 80. In addition, its vertical multiple-radius construction matches that of the more compact CNC 60, as Eberspächer processes tubes with diameters of no more than 50mm (1.97"). Eberspächer’s Tondela production facility is now equipped with machines featuring cutting-edge NxG control systems, claimed to be up to 35 per cent faster in operation than machines without the systems. The RS 30 line accommodates tubes of 16 to 30mm in diameter, and wall thicknesses from 0.7 to 3mm. The highlight of this machine is the productivity that is achieved through its high speed. Designed for 185m/min, it will produce between 140 and 180m/ min, ie around 30 tubes per minute in small dimensions.

port boost technology at automotive supplier Eberspächer’s site in Portugal. Eberspächer uses the energy-efficient machines from Schwarze-Robitec’s High Performance series to manufac- ture tubes for complex exhaust systems. International standards require manufacturers to lower fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions, reinforcing the need for increasingly efficient systems to reduce pollution from cars and commercial vehicles. This is a challenge that Eberspächer faces at its exhaust technology product unit. The company designs efficient systems for exhaust gas post treatment, ranging from conventional mufflers to highly complex purification technology. In manufacturing, this not only requires the use of lightweight and thin materials, but also the short cycle times and high speeds that are typical for the automotive industry, as well as a large degree of process security. With the two newCNC 80/60 ETBMR was implemented in the RS40. With the automated twisting section, a fast and optimised strip threading is possible. Coil logistics and safety were at the forefront of the development of this tube welding line. The FCF 240 (flexible cold forming technology) is for profiles of 19 x 19mm to 63 x 63mm, wall thickness 1 to 3.3mm, at a speed of 100m/min. It produces square and rectangular profiles in the stated size range without roll change, and infinitely variable to every dimension in every possible intermediate dimension. A change from metric to imperial measurement units also allows

manufacturer Seuthe invited customers to an in-house exhibition in March, for an opportunity to see and experience machine innovation live in the workshop. On-site, interested parties could talk with the developers and designers of the three tube welding lines that had been assembled, to get advice and discuss individual solutions. The three tube mills that were presented each have a different focus. The RS 40 line is for tube diameters from 12.7 to 40mm, and wall thickness of 1 to 4mm, running at a speed of 150m/min.
