New AC welding process for aluminium WITH the Titan XQ 400AC puls, German welding machine manufacturer EWM is aiming to revolutionise MIG welding of aluminium. The new acArc puls XQ alternating current welding process makes both manual and automated welding easier, and the weld seam is pure. The water-cooled Titan XQ 400 AC puls is specialised for aluminium welding: even the thinnest sheets can be easily and safely joined together, without the molten metal falling through and with reduced distortion.

welding. In combination with the acArc puls XQ welding process, MIG welding seams are achieved in a TIG look. Soft aluminium wire can be accurately fed by the Drive XQ wire feeder. With multiple options, such as a wire spool heater, electronic gas flow control, wire reserve sensor and accessories, users can configure a welding machine that matches their requirements and welding tasks. The acArc puls XQ welding pro- cess is suited to both manual and automated welding, as well as additive manufacturing of aluminium parts (3D welding) due to its low heat input.

In the new acArc puls XQ welding process, the welding current alternates during the process sequence between positive and negative polarity. This makes the arc easy to control, even when using AIMg alloys. It can bridge large air gaps, including during automated application. The weld seam is clean and shiny thanks to the reduced magnesium oxide, and welding fumes are reduced. The Positionweld process ensures optimum welding during positional

Alongside the new MIG-AC welding process, all of the established and optimised EWM DC welding processes, such as the forceArc puls XQ, rootArc XQ and coldArc XQ, are included in the machine.
