Lost Property

This is where a guest accidentally leaves property in the room which is found by the housekeeper following a departure. The housekeeper must remove and secure the items in the housekeeping store following the procedure below Any valuable items (i.e. phones, tablets, jewellery) should be labelled and handed to the duty manager to store in the safe. Procedure: • Place the item(s) in a clear bag • Complete a ‘Lost Property Label’ – ensuring that you fully complete the Date found, Room Number, Guests Name, Item(s) found • Place the label onto the seal of the bag • Report the find immediately to the Duty Manager in case the guest calls • Log the find in the Lost Property book – clearly completing all areas. (See example below) • Wait to see if the guest contacts you. If the guest would like the item posting out you will need to take the credit/debit card details to which we can charge postage to. (If posting out send via registered post as soon as possible) • If the guest is to collect or if you have no way to contact the guest put the item into the lost property box • The property must be kept for 3 months after which time you can clear the items out (May be donate to a charity shop, or keep mobile phone charges etc behind reception for guests use).
