Appendix 1 - Action to be taken on discovery of an infestation

Hotel Action:

Pest Control Company Action

Address guest issues in a sensitive and professional manor

Conduct full check in affected room

Log a call with the pest control company ASAP

Conduct full checks in adjacent rooms if required

Isolate affected room (Rooms next door, above and below if necessary)

Consider harbourage in rooms

Bag up all linen from affected room, place in its own bag and leave in the affected room

Isolate items for fumigation

Ensure minimum movement of items

Fumigate infested areas

Contact CRO to take room out of use

Carry out 2nd treatment if required

Advise business of any actions required for them

Ensure minimum disruption for guests

Complete relevant paper work

Conduct thorough clean of the affect room(s) following fumigation

Inform site when it is possible for them to put the room back in use

Contact CRO to put room back on sale

30. Dirty / Soiled Rooms

Dirty / Soiled Rooms

Where a guest has soiled or caused damage to the room then charges may be made for cleaning /repair. Where this situation is found by housekeeping then it must be reported to the manager.

Evidence in the form of photographs should be taken of the room in the event of a dispute.

Where a guest is to be charged for damages / cleaning then they must be written to. The template for this letter is the same as the Smoking letter which is held on the Outlet Document Library / Hotels / policies and Procedures.
