When I left yesterday at noon or so, I found a group of perhaps 8 strong men erecting a very large hoarding in front of the compound wall; I went to them but they refused to hear me, except for the driver of their load-carrier who seemed to understand my objection. I did not feel like picking up a fight with them as they were only hired labor. This morning when I arrived I first checked the bindings to see whether I could loosen them all by myself; I phoned the number printed on the board, some sort of Rotary club advertisement for a cyclothon, very garish; the man who answered did not seem to know about these boards placement but agreed to pass on the message… And, after I had done the puja and gone out to check I found that in the meantime other people had placed a second huge board next to that one, advertising for a new “development” called “the Mother’s Royal City”…! These forces are like suckers and parasites that will exploit to the end… I spend what time I can quietly untying the lower bindings of the first board: in this way I’ll do everyday what I can till it is all gone…

The nights remain cool but the sun-rays become stronger day by day.
