Almost the same scene awaits me when I reach here: the public tap has again been broken and a lady is there filling many bottles from the gushing water while others are merely looking on… At once I go in and shut the main valve and call Purushottam again, who later has to go to Pondy to find a stronger metal pipe for this rough usage and fixes it as I end the puja, refusing any extra payment and saying he wants thus to contribute… He even offers Rs. 10/-, this sweet silent willow of a boy… This somewhat consoles me from the general callousness… Another Rs. 20/- are offered…
