2014 January Beacon

“T’was the Night before Christmas and all Through the House” …. And literally, as of this writing, it is the Night before Christmas. A wonderful time of the year in my opinion. It lends pause to reflect on this years’ past and give thanks for all that we were blessed with. Family, friends and good times that we’ve enjoyed. The Joy of a newborn … the Sorrow of a loved ones’ passing. All in this cycle of Life. Then in its’ debut, the New Year challenging us with the prospect of starting anew. A new beginning … a new determination for better times ahead. A chance to make a difference in our life and the lives of others. So rejoice! Hold your family close and give thanks for our blessings. Look forward to a brighter year ahead!

, North Channel Yacht Club. More than a Club … it’s a Family. A Past Commodore of whom I have a great respect has been heard to say “ … in joining this Club, your life will be changed forever”. How true that statement. If you allow yourself to get involved in the activities and meet and mingle with its’ members the essence of the Club transforms your experience into more than just a social pastime. I am both proud and humbled to be taking the reins of Commodore for this coming season. Looking back, there has been greatness and achievement in each and every Commodore that has led this Club throughout the years. Every One! The bar is high and the standards set. I will meet and exceed your expectations. That is my Commitment to you. With that, I would hope that you will be there with me. Experience the events held for your entertainment. Share the meals prepared for your nourishment. Enjoy the companionship of fellow members partaking in what we all worked so hard to achieve. My goal at year’s end is to pass stewardship on to the next Commodore with NCYC on sound financial and social footing, even better than was received. A progression of success built upon year after year. And so Life with NCYC continues. Even in off-season there’s things to do to keep in touch with your friends at North Channel. The Annual Ski/Snowmobile Outing at Shanty Creek Resorts the last weekend of January. If you’re still in town looking for excitement and adventure, that’s the place to be. Nearby, we have the North Channel Bowling League in full-swing. Once a month, I believe it is. If you’ve missed sign-up on a team, stop on by to say “Hi”. It’s always good to share part of a Saturday afternoon with friends. Lastly, if you’re not busy on January 18 th , I would hope to see you at the Commodore’s Ball. I would be honored to have you celebrate with us, this gala event. In closing this article, I would like to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Keep close your family and friends. Be thankful for the treasures that we’re blessed with. Most importantly, make a positive difference in your life and the lives of others.

Let The Good Times Roll, Commodore John Anderson
