In cases where noise levels and exposure cannot be sufficiently  reduced, provide suitable and effective hearing protection for use by  employees who need to be exposed to the noise   Where an individual is likely to be exposed to noise at or above an  upper exposure action value it is recommended that control  measures are implemented to eliminate or control exposure to noise  at the workplace.   Where this is not possible it is recommended that personal hearing  protectors should be provided to any individual who is exposed. In  addition it is recommended that the area is designated a hearing  protection zone, the area is demarcated and identified by means of a  sign indicating that ear protection must be worn (this sign should be  selected in accordance with Part II of Schedule 1 to the Health and  Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996), and access to the  area should be restricted.   Maintenance of Equipment   Inspect and maintain all equipment associated with noise reduction  and control of attendant risks to ensure it continues to function  effectively and safely, (including, for example, silencers, enclosures  and personal hearing protection equipment).  

Monitor noise control procedures to ensure they continue to be  effective and are consistently observed by all persons who are 

exposed to risks from noise.   Hearing Monitoring  

Provide facilities for monitoring the hearing of employees who are  exposed to high levels of noise, to ensure their hearing is not being  adversely affected and as an additional means of monitoring the  effectiveness of control measures and procedures.   Lockton employees are required to inform a responsible person of  any problems that occur in relation to noise levels, so that an
