ensure that any other persons or contractors involved in the work  comply with the rules for working at height on Lockton sites.   Lockton Responsibilities   For Associates  In order to ensure that the dangers of working at height are  adequately controlled on Lockton locations inside the normal office  environment the provision and use of step ladders and stools and  “Elephant's  Foot” type stools all come under the working at heights  controls.   All equipment must be checked by the associate using it before use  to ensure that it is in a sound condition and safe to use. In any  situation where there is doubt then the item should be taken out of  use, marked as “Not to Be Used”  and a replacement sought.  If any  doubt exists over the suitability of an item to use then contact  Facilities who will arrange a check to be carried out.   A regular inspection of these items will be carried out and the  associate should check that the item is in date for the next inspection  before use.   A site register should be prepared listing all steps and Stools   Any new equipment must be advised to Facilities to be recorded on a  site register”   Use of Step Ladders and Stools   Step ladders    Are acceptable only for access or work of very short duration.  They should be    Spread them to their full extent, and    Do not work on the top platform    Do not use the top tread, tool shelf or rear part of the steps as  a foot support
