Grigory Sokolov is considered to be one of the best pianists alive today. Before the 1980s, due to political situation, he did not perform much outside the Soviet Union. Completely devoted to music and unwilling to compromise his performance standards, Sokolov has for some years now exclusively been giving solo recitals. He gives deep consideration to each of his concert programmes and keeps working on it until the last moment.
