Department of Computational Physiology, Simula Research Laboratory, Oslo, Norway As you move forward in science, what type of research do you see yourself doing? Why? Moving forward in science, I see myself working as an interdisciplinary biophysicist combining experiments in (electro-) physiology with computational simulations focused on clinical and pharmacological research. With my interdisciplinary background and experience, I’d like to increase mutual understanding and collaboration between the fields of experimental and computational research to benefit science, patients, and society.

Gene Fusions in Pediatric Sarcomas (R21) Research grant applications are encouraged to inves- tigate the molecular mechanisms by which oncogenic fusion genes and their gene products contribute to pediatric sarcoma initiation, progression, and metastasis. Better understanding of the molecular pathways activat- ed by chromosomal translocations in pediatric sarcomas, and their relationship to oncogenesis and tumor progres- sion, can elucidate mechanisms of cancer pathogenesis and potentially lead to novel therapeutics.
