Water Department Superintendent

The year 2025 was one of several accomplishments and projects throughout the year. This begins with Matt Tirrell obtaining his class II treatment license, making it the first time in many years that there are 3 fully licensed operators at the water department. Several major projects were done including installation of the first radio read meters, completion of the Highland Ave twelve-inch water main as well as the continuation of GPS/GIS record keeping and lead service line inventory. In the early spring, the installation of the first radio read meter was complete. By the end of the summer around 120 radio read meters had been installed within the system. These meters have several capabilities including freeze detection, leak detection, and should be much more accurate than the older meters. Eventually these meters will save many hours of labor as we can just drive by the residence to receive readings rather than walking up to and physically touching every pad on the houses. Throughout the spring, summer, and fall, we continued with the ongoing GPS/GIS project. We are currently in the process of changing our GIS software to save us thousands of dollars a year. This proved to be more work than expected as we had to manually move every picture we had in the current system into the new one. We have well over 90% of the house shutoffs in the system accurately recorded now and will start working on gates and hydrants next year. It is extremely important to have these records when issues arise and will help future operators of the system.
