Congratulations to our month of September Rising Stars . Mr. Alex Pupek as Undergraduate Medical Student with Dr. Yu Chen of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, HHN; Mr. Jason Robertson as Doctoral Candidate with Dr. Erik Scheme of the In- stitute of Biomedical Engineering, UNB; and Mr. Daniel Craig Ayre as Post-doctoral Fellow with Dr. Rodney Ouellette, ACRI.
In the news, congratulations to Dr. Colleen O’Connell and Dr Chris McGibbon for several publications (PMRR, ISSN: 2398- 3353; MDPI-Sensors 2017, 17, 934) and Dr. Dan Smyth (Ann Hepatol. 2017 Sep-Oct;16(5):749-758). We mention the signature of a five year collaborative agreement between Université de Moncton and Shannex Inc. for “training on aging” ( Université de Moncton, September 28, 2017 ). The local chapter of PCC raised $38,000 in Saint John area for prostate cancer ( The Telegraph Journal, September 26, 2017 ). Dr. Anil Adisesh was showcased on an upcoming project on prostate cancer prevention: PATH ( The Telegraph Journal, September 29, 2017 ). Also in the news, Dr. Pakzad of the Université de Moncton discussed Alzheimer’s research in New Brunswick with Radio Canada ( Radio-Canada, September 21, 2017) . As the consultation of the stakeholders of the New Brunswick Health Research Enterprise continues in preparation to set the stage for the next cycle of the strategic plan, “ the New Brunswick we want” - relative to health research, and innovation in health, being agile and competitive and sustainable - in 2020, 2025, 2030, must be debated today.
