Each graduation is a milestone event, but this year’s Carrollton High School commencement also brought with it other significant happenings worth noting: The Class of 2016 was Dr. Mark Albertus’ eighth and final class as principal of Carrollton High School before he transitioned fully to be the district’s new superintendent; a new tradition was started when graduates walked the halls of all three other Carrollton City schools following graduation practice Friday; and for the first time since 1993, the commencement ceremony was delayed until Saturday morning because of rainy weather. This exceptional class also produced 83 seniors who were awarded $14.1 million in scholarships - not including the HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarships awards, which totaled about $1 million to 209 seniors.
