Methods for dose distribution comparison

❑ Dose distribution overlays - requires that the user interpret the differences themselves ❑ Dose-difference distributions - has the limitation that very large dose differences can be caused by relatively small spatial discrepancies in steep dose gradient regions ❑ Distance-to-agreement - has the limitation of large distances in homogeneous areas ❑ Quantitative comparison tools o Composite tool ❖ Combined DTA and dose difference in a binary way o Gamma and similar tools - useful when a large amount of dose data needs to be reviewed quickly, such as for routine patient QA. When discrepancies are identified, the clinical impact of those discrepancies can e.g. be determined using the dose difference tool. ❑ No single dose comparison tool provides all of the information necessary to quantitatively evaluate or compare dose distributions.
